Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day 2011: Pearl Harbor Day is not a federal holiday. While Government offices, schools, and businesses do not close, there are many memorials planned, including the Pearl Harbor Day wreath laying ceremony at the Navy Memorial in Washington, DC that starts at 1pm on Wednesday, December 7.
The attack on Pearl Harbor was an unannounced military strike conducted by the Japanese navy against the United States' naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on the morning of Sunday, December 7, 1941, which resulted in the United States becoming militarily involved in World War II.
