Florence And The Machine: "Best New Artist", Florence and the Machine, Vicci Martinez performs Florence and the Machine's "Dog Days Are Over" on "The Voice," June 21, 2011. Last night on "The Voice," the eight remaining performers sang for a chance to perform in next week's finals. But before the semifinals could get underway, Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine each had to send two singers home.
Cee Lo Green: "Anything can happen" on "The Voice" Green's team was up first, and America's votes saved Vicci Martinez. "America has good taste," Green said. Green chose Nakia to move onto the semifinals, sending the Thompson sisters and Curtis Grimes home.
Then, it was the Maroon 5 frontman's turn. Javier Colon got the public's vote, and Levine picked Casey Weston to move on, which meant Jeff Jenkins and Devon Barley were eliminated.
With that bit of business out of the way, the semifinals began. Highlights included Frenchie Davis' rendition of Madonna's "Like a Prayer," Javier Colon's cover of Coldplay's "Fix You" and Dia Frampton's version of R.E.M.'s "Losing My Religion."
The coaches got in on the performing too - Blake Shelton took to the stage to sing "Honey Bee" and Levine performed "Moves Like Jagger" with Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera.
Martinez closed the show with a rousing rendition of Florence and the Machine's "Dog Days Are Over," during which she ran around the stage and drummed the song's thumping beat alongside a line of percussionists. The coaches all agreed that her performance was the best one of the night.
