Mike Brown

Mike Brown to the Lakers?: The Los Angeles have reportedly made an offer to Mike Brown to become their next head coach, Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The Los Angeles Lakers are finalizing negotiations with Mike Brown to make him the 22nd coach in franchise history, a source close to the situation said Wednesday.

His hiring could be announced as soon as Wednesday afternoon, if final terms can be agreed upon.

According to Turner, the team has offered the former Cleveland Cavaliers coach $4 million a year to take over for departing Hall of Famer Phil Jackson

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports tweeted that Brown and the Lakers are "very close" to completing the deal.

Lakers executive vice president Jim Buss was said to have been impressed with Brown's defensive style.

Sam Amick of Sports Illustrated reported that Lakers star Kobe Bryant was "surprised" by the news and "that he was not a part of the decision-making process."

Lakers assistant coach Brian Shaw and Former Houston Rockets coach Rick Adelman were also candidates for the position.
