Sugarland Indiana State Fair Stage Collapses: Almost 4 Dead 40 Injured: At least four people were killed and 40 injured when a stage collapsed Saturday night during a storm at the Indiana State Fair, where the country group Sugarland was set to perform.
“A big gust of wind came through. You could see a lot of people panicking,” Aaron Richman, who witnessed the collapse at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, told to the CNN.
The authorities said the stage came down during a storm at the Indiana State Fair in Indianapolis as the band Sugarland were about to perform. About two dozen people were reported injured in the incident at the fairgrounds in Indianapolis.
Strong winds caused the stage rigging for the outdoor concert to collapse, trapping and injuring concert-goers shortly before 9 p.m. Indiana State Police spokesman David Bursten told The Associated Press that a “strong gust of wind upset the rigging above the stage at the Indiana State Fairgrounds and caused a collapse of the structure over the stage.”
