Pentagon Arrest: Man Taken Into Custody Near Department Of Defense Headquarters,Pentagon Threat; Al Quaida Related Man Arrested, 9mm Shells Found, Marine Corps Reserve Corporal Arrested in Pentagon Bomb Scare:  Authorities say one person has been taken into custody in connection with an investigation into a suspicious vehicle near the Pentagon.

Pentagon police spokesman Chris Layman says the person was taken into custody early Friday and that one or two other people may be involved. Layman says the car is in bushes near the Pentagon's north parking lot.

A Marine Corps Reserve lance corporal who was carrying suspected bomb making materials and pro-al Qaeda literature was arrested in Arlington National Cemetery early this morning, triggering a bomb scare that snarled Washington's morning rush hour. The FBI, however, determined that the material in the man's backpack was harmless.

"There was not a device and the products found are determined right now to be inert," said Brenda Heck, special agent in charge of counterterrorism for the FBI.  

No other details about the investigation were immediately available.The investigation has caused road closures near the Pentagon.

In another incident earlier this week, a motorist found with a gun and what appeared to be a suspicious package near the Pentagon was taken into custody. www.defense.gov
